  • Denmark-based pharmaceuticals company acquires Raleigh manufacturing plant

    Xellia Pharmaceuticals announced Monday it has acquired Fresenius Kabi’s manufacturing plant in Raleigh. The facility is the Denmark-based company’s first in the United States.

    The acquisition includes an ongoing manufacturing agreement between Xellia and Fresenius Kabi. Xellia will continue to manufacture products, such as medicines and transfusion technologies, at the site for Fresenius Kabi. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

    John Bax will step down this month as chief financial officer of LivingSocial Inc., leaving a role he’s held since 2010. Dan Federico, LivingSocial’s treasurer and vice president of finance, has been tapped to replace the outgoing CFO.

  • Cary construction company gets contract for Owens Corning plant in Gaston County

    Global Engineering and Construction Group of Cary will handle construction management, engineering and procurement duties for the $120 million Owens Corning composite tissue plant planned in Gaston County.

    Owen Corning (NYSE:OC) announced in October that it will build the 110-employee plant in Gastonia. Production is planned for 2015.

    Global Engineering is a subsidiary of Foster Wheeler AG (NASDAQ: FWLT) of Zug, Switzerland.
